LOUISVILLE, KY. (March 25, 2010) – The new MaxxForce® Engine Brake by Jacobs® for MaxxForce 11 and MaxxForce 13 big bore diesel engines offers the highest engine braking horsepower per liter in the commercial trucking industry. Developed by Navistar and Jacobs Vehicle Systems, the compression-release engine-mounted brake is available in the all new International® ProStar®+ as well as the International TranStar® and WorkStar® trucks powered by MaxxForce 11- and 13-liter engines.

For maximum downhill braking performance between 351 to 398 horsepower at 1,900 to 2,100 rpm, for the MaxxForce 11 and between 415 to 470 horsepower at 1,900 to 2,100 rpm, for the MaxxForce 13.  The new brake also features:

·         Dedicated cam compression release technology for maximizing braking performance

·         Proven technology, durable and reliable operation

·         Braking power equal to positive power

·         Factory installed or dealer retrofit

The MaxxForce Engine Brake by Jacobs is comprised of two engine brake housings and special exhaust valve bridges. The engine brake is controlled by the engine control module and has three available braking levels depending on driver needs. The brake is fully integrated with the engine electronic controls and vehicle anti-lock braking system (ABS) for greater driver control and is fully functional with the Alison transmission.
