MELROSE PARK, Ill., Oct. 21, 2009 — Navistar Engine Group will build advanced diesel engines to power commercial trucks and buses from MAN Latin America in Brazil. Under a recently signed agreement, Navistar subsidiary MWM International Motores will manufacture the MAN-designed engines at its Santo Amaro plant in São Paulo, Brazil.

The deal deepens a supply relationship between the two companies that began in 1973. Currently, MAN Latin America uses diesel engines designed, engineered and manufactured by MWM in its light-, medium- and heavy-duty commercial trucks and buses marketed under the VW Constellation, Delivery, Worker and Volksbus brands. These include advanced I-4 and I-6 engines with displacements between 3.0 liters and 9.3 liters.

“This venture brings together the advancements each company has achieved over the past few years in technology, product design, quality and manufacturing,” said Waldey Sanchez, CEO and president, MWM International.

Sanchez noted that since 2004, Navistar Engine Group and German-based MAN Nutzfahrzeuge also have collaborated on global engine technology development that resulted in the development of Navistar’s 11- and 13-liter MaxxForce® engines for the North American heavy truck market.

Navistar Engine Group, an operating unit of Navistar International Corporation (NYSE: NAV), produces diesel engines for consumer and commercial automotive and industrial markets around the world. Its global MaxxForce® brand line of engines offers models for a wide range of applications and for all global emissions standards. For more information, visit www.MaxxForce.com.
